December 23, 2009 · 1 Comment

My best friend who’s Mongolian (we’ll call him Bob cuz it’s easier to type ^^) came to visit me in Hong Kong last weekend. I’m posting some pictures of our little tourist style weekend to give you a glimpse of what Hong Kong offers.  Keep reading →

golden disk awards

December 10, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Been following the 24th Golden Disk Awards (Korean Grammys kinda).

Exciting stuff!  Actually not sure if the show is finished yet, but so far, this is definitely SME’s night.  SuJu has already won 4 awards, including the Daesangs.  SNSD and SHINee won too.  Whilst I’m a big YG fan, SuJu deserved the awards.  They had a massive year with Sorry Sorry and It’s You.  Same with SNSD and their GEE and Tell Me Your Wish.  What did surprise me however was no award for 2NE1, as they definitely owned the second half of 2009.  Anyway, good show overall – much more exciting and glamorous then the MAMAs to be honest.

Son Dambi looked stunning – but what did she kill in order to get that atrocity that is hanging off her?!

“HyunA shii – what are you in this evening?”
“My bathing suit! TeeHee ^_^”

The tramp, the hobo, the dork, and mini Crown J

Legs Legs Leggity Legs. *giggle*

Looking good guys.

A lot of awesome performances this evening, like SuJu, SNSD, Davichi, Son Dambi, Epik High..

I’ll just post this badass performance by 2PM to whet your appetite, go find the rest on youtube! BTW, check out how they freak the shit out of some of the other singers :D

HyunA and Jiyoon were so cute, dancing along to Heartbeat!  I know I rag on HyunA a lot, but after watching her on Invincible Youth, she’s mega adorable and innocent. Although she’s supposed to be an entertainer, it’s still a shame she has to put on a front and act so slutty/overtly sexy when performing.

blood on my hands…

December 6, 2009 · 2 Comments

It’s time for my confession.

I have held a deep dark secret in my heart.  Although I have kept this secret for no more than a day, the heaviness in the depths of my heart feels like the entire world is crushing my very soul.

I can no longer allow this secret to crush my spirit further… I need to go to work tomorrow.

And it is you, the reader, that will save my soul by alleviating this weight. I need to share.  I need to live.

I confess… I have finally killed Her.

She lay in front of me, bounded by Her limbs.  Knife in hand, I approached Her.  As she saw the killing object in my hands, Her eyes bulged to a size I thought not possible.  I stood there, towering over Her.  I thought the wait itself was going to kill Her.  I hesitated.  Why must I kill Her?  I have not killed anyone before.  But I must.  Direct orders.  I cannot disobey, or I must face the consequences.  It’s either me of Her.  I choose my life. What other choice can I make?  Her mouth started to foam.  The wait was indeed making Her suffer.

I decided to put Her out of Her misery… Keep reading →

ninja qoobie

November 29, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Watched Ninja Assassin today.  I had pretty low expectations going into the cinema, as I’ve read some of the reviews.  I came out pleasantly surprised.

If you keep an open mind on the: overuse of CGI blood, the choppy editing, and the amazingly cheesy , and sometimes comedic dialogue, the cliche’d story, the obligatory inter-racial love story which was really not needed, and the numerous plot holes… keep an open mind, and it’s a good popcorn flick.

Just.

Whilst many kpop fans are giving rave reviews on Rain’s performance, I still found his engrish accent very evident.  It seems that Rain just doesn’t have a knack for the language, compared to fellow k-celebs such as Lee Byung Hyun and BoA.  However, his martial arts skills belied his pop singer origins, and he did a great job on the action scenes.

Ninja Assassin might have many faults, but go into the cinema and enjoy it for what it is.  A film that shows off some great action scenes full of gratuitious violence.

It’s a film about ninjas.  How can it suck?

map the swine

November 29, 2009 · Leave a Comment

In the past week, 9 Korean celebrities have be struck by swine flu.  They attract the flu like Edward Cullen attracts hormone crazy, obviously blind, fan girls (and the occasional fan boy).

So why are Korean celebs so prone to catching the ‘oinkz’?

7th September, SS501 leader and part-time flower boy Kim Hyun Joong is the first k-celeb (as far as I know) to be diagnosed with swine flu. Oh noes.  Where/who did he get it from?  The answer lies in Hong Kong.  Hyun Joong was spotted in HK with a couple of ladies around 18th August outside a bar.  As everyone knows, HK is like a playground for flu and pandemics in the past decade.  No doubt one of the ladies passed it on when they were getting their kimchi on.

Since then, almost 20 k-celebs have caught the virus:

14th October, K.Will
27th October, 2AM Jo Kwon
3rd November, Gavy NJ’s maknae Noh Shi Hyun
6th November, 2AM Jinwoon
7th November, SHINee Onew
10th November, Lee Seung Gi
19th November, Queen Seon Duk’s Kim Nam Gil
22nd November, Queen Seok Duk’s Lee Seung Hyo
23rd November, f(x) Amber, Krystal, Sulli
23rd November, Wheesung
25th November, MBLAQ Lee Joon
26th November, SHINee Taemin
26th November, MBLAQ Thunder
26th November, Kim Joon

You would think that with tamiflu and other preventative measures, the rate of catching swine flu among celebs would actually decrease.

Of the list above, 76% are male.  A lot of netizens have commented that swine flu is either feminine, or gay.  How uneducated.  What does swine flu do to the person?  Strike them down, making them lethargic, loss of appetite, fever just to name a few of the symptoms, and in the worst case, death.  I don’t think the ladies out there want their eye-candy to die.  I hope not anyway.

If swine flu had a sex, it’s definitely sporting a huge Y chromosome.  Attack them boys, leaving only hot k-ladies.

Genius.

career advice

November 15, 2009 · 2 Comments

I’ve been catching up on IRIS the past 2 weeks – I gotta say, although it’s full of the typical k-drama cliches, it’s still damn entertaining.  I love espionage movies/TV/novels.

The one thing in common between all the different spy movies/books? Not that spies can kick your ass, or that they have ridiculous technology, or that they have ridiculously high pain barriers.

No, the answer is that the female agents are freakin hot – whether they’re south korean, japanese, north korean, american or british.

So my career advice for all the kids out there?  Join the army and get scouted by the secret agencies – cuz that’s where all the booty is.

1.59pm

November 10, 2009 · 7 Comments

Really loving the first full album by 2PM (although its really a gloried mini album – half the album are remixes).

JYPE is really sneaky in calling the album 1:59pm.  Does he agree that 2PM is incomplete without Jaebum? Or hint that Jaebum will come back to make the clock tick again?

Hmmm… it’s a conspiracy!

Oh, and for the re-released tracks like Again & Again, I noticed Jaebum still sings in them.  So….

too many thoughts, too little time

November 6, 2009 · 5 Comments

So initially, I started this blog to keep track of my new life in Hong Kong, commenting on my favourite hobbies and topics, including asian culture, music and food.  But after starting my job and having other commitments, I’ve really struggled to find the time to blog about all the things I want to.

You’ll find most of my posts are quite tongue-in-cheek, and I often make fun of kpop, and life in general.

Most other blogs try to be unbiased and keep their readers happy.  Thats just not me, and I’m not afraid of heating things up a bit, whilst at the same time making some people smile.

Wish I had more time though =(  I know don’t get many people visiting here, with only a couple of frequent commentators to keep me interested (looking at you izzie and jane haha), but I wanna continue with this thing.

So anyway, what I wanna say is if anyone at all has any similar interests to me (english music, cpop, kpop, jpop, football, basketball, food and cooking, travelling, asian culture, US TV) and wanna put a fun little blog together, that is unafraid to hurt some ickle netizen feelings, then let me know.
